• The Quickie Guide To Publishing Comics - #1 (General Overview)

A very, very general overview on how to get going with comic publishing. This was done in mind for those who live in the Detroit area. You have everything within reach to get out there and be the local publisher of tomorrow! You can get the Canson Fanboy manga board from your local Utrecht/Blick art store! Check the store by WSU, they keep them in stock and can reorder if they sell out. Next time, I'll talk about general budgeting, materials for drawing, panels for squishing a story in 16 pages, and beginning aspects of book design (for printing or Amazon). I'd also like to talk about Kickstarter/fundraisers and how those can factor in with regular productions (and sometimes make your operations easier). A low overhead will save your business and make others wonder, "How did they do that?" It's easier than you think! Don't worry about if the market is saturated. It will ALWAYS be saturated. Simply tell your story. Don't worry about someone who says what you do is a waste of time or is immature, either. You tell them, you're inspiring their children to embrace literacy. Last I checked, that was a good thing. I'll talk more next time! I hope this inspires someone! Thank you and I'm sorry for the computer screen! It didn't like the glass cleaner I gave it, I guess.

Renato Jones: The One % - Kaare Andrews A vicious and violent take on the modern aristocracy, which is labeled the one % because of their incomes. Roy is looking to break into Hollywood and sell his screenplay while Mac just wants a dog. Both aren’t very good at their day job, which is being a cop, but they are more than open to any opportunities that come their way; legal or otherwise. A ridiculous and violent romp through LA. Read more here: The Fix Vol. 1 - http://amzn.to/2hMWQRP The Black Monday Murders - Jonathan Hickman - Tomm Coker The Black Monday Murders is classic occultism where the various schools of magic are actually clandestine banking cartels who control all of society: a secret world where vampire Russian oligarchs, Black popes, enchanted American aristocrats, and hitmen from the International Monetary Fund work together to keep ALL OF US in our proper place. Read more here: The Black Monday Murders Vol. 1 - http://amzn.to/2iui1r9 Seven To Eternity - Rick Remender - Jerome Opena The God of Whispers has spread an omnipresent paranoia to every corner of the kingdom of Zhal; his spies hide in every hall spreading mistrust and fear. Adam Osidis, a dying knight from a disgraced house, must choose between joining a hopeless band of magic users in their desperate bid to free their world of the evil God, or accepting his promise to give Adam everything his heart desires. Read more here: Seven To Eternity Vol. 1 - http://amzn.to/2hNiWCh Kill Or Be Killed - Ed Brubaker - Sean Phillips The twisted story of a man that is forced to kill bad people and how he struggles to hide this secret and keep it from destroying his life. Maybe you don't know John Morrw or his company, TwoMorrows Publishing, but if you know and care about comics fandom, you surely know TwoMorrows' line of comics magazines and books, including: • 'Alter Ego,' the ultimate fanzine, produced by the ultimate fan turned comics pro turned fan again, Marvel Comics legend Roy "The Boy" Thomas; • 'Back Issue' magazine, edited by Michael Eury; • 'Comic Book Creator,' edited by my old friend Jon B. Cooke; • 'Draw!', an instructional manual; • And 'American Comic Book Chronicles,' a deluxe hardcover book series edited by Keith Dallas—a recent Mr. Media guest—that looks and feels a bit like an Encyclopedia Britannica of comics, with volumes written by historical authorities including Dallas, John Wells, Roy Thomas, and Bill Schelly; TwoMorrows also publishes a line of standalone books devoted to individual comics creators, including Joe Kubert, Marie Severin, Filmation founder Lou Scheimer, and an upcoming Don Heck book. That's in addition to the "Modern Masters" series, which has included everyone from George Perez and Bruce Timm to Walt Simonson and Mark Schultz (yet another past Mr. Media guest). John's very first publication was The Jack Kirby Collector #1 in 1994. That magazine recently published its 62nd issue and shows no signs of slowing down. I'll be honest: I don't know a lot about the history of TwoMorrows or what has sustained John for two decades. But I'm hoping we'll all know a whole lot more when we're done!
